#HelpSamer is a story about a Syrian refugee boy named Samer, who has only the power of his thoughts to make the world as he knows it, a better place to live in. Samer is no magician but wishes he could be. He believes if he tries hard enough, he can help save his friends and family. The commercial was produced in efforts to raise awareness about the unacceptable living conditions of Syrian refugees, focusing on the dangers they faced when crossing the border into Lebanon to escape the civil war.

Promoted across UNHCR’s social media channels, local and regional TV stations including Al Hadath News Network, reaching a viewership of more than 23 million people. The campaign went viral across regional news channels including Akhbar Al Aan (news) and social media pages. It got more than 2.6 million online interactions.

During the following month, donations rose by more than 30%. This helped mobilise thousands of displaced refugees while providing them with much-needed supplies and care.

#HelpSamer won a “Best Shorts” Award of Merit, 2017.
